The Art of being an Effective CEO
In both sports and the corporate world, effective coaching is pivotal to success. HR professionals, are coaches, and they guide their teams towards peak performance. Here are three simple tips to become a better listener and questioner:
1. Active Listening: Truly focus on the speaker, avoid interrupting, and show empathy. Duke’s Coach K (my favourite coach of all time) once said, "The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said."
2. Ask Open-Ended Questions: Encourage detailed responses with questions like, "Can you tell me more about that?" This helps uncover deeper insights.
3. Provide Constructive Feedback: Balance praise with actionable advice to foster growth and improvement.
Just like a well-coached sports team, a cohesive corporate team thrives on trust, communication, and shared goals.
